RES has submitted a planning application, to Rushcliffe Borough Council, for our 99.9MW battery energy storage system (BESS) on land off West Leake Lane, approximately 1.8km from Ratcliffe-on-Soar and 2.5km from Gotham.
RES has now submitted a planning application for the Winking Hill BESS following the review of environmental and technical surveys and feedback from the community. They provide reliable and safe ways of managing variable and weather-dependent electricity generation from renewables and are considered the fastest technology for responding to a sudden spike in demand, or an abrupt loss of supply, helping maintain the grid network balance to avoid blackouts and grid failure.
As part of the planning application, we have proposed landscaping and biodiversity improvements which could deliver a considerable Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) of just over 77% in habitat units, together with an approximately 66% increase in hedgerow units.
